I haven’t had my washing machine repaired for 10 years. It is time for you to give up the services of a master too.
Friends, my washing machine is really 10 years old. I’ve never called a handyman. Why not? Because there was no need. My washing machine doesn’t break down, ugh, ugh. Because from the first day of its purchase, I began to take care of it properly. Now I will share my secrets with you, since I understand how much it costs now for a new washing machine and the services of a good master to repair it.

Extend the life of your washing machine by 10 years

  1. CLEAN THE FILTER

Small objects (rhinestones and beads from clothes, coins, buttons) and debris tend to accumulate in the filter. A dirty filter gives off an unpleasant odor. A new generation washing machine usually lets you know when it needs to clean the filter – it refuses to spin the laundry.

I clean the filter this way:

I take a small empty bowl;
open the filter lid, take out the hose;
drain all the water out of the filter;
take out the filter itself and remove all the debris from it.

CLEANING THE BARABAN

There are 2 ways to clean the drum. I usually alternate between them.

Method 1: put a small bag of any laundry bleach in the washing machine and run an empty wash at 60 degrees.

2 way: run an empty wash at 90 degrees with citric acid (2-3 tbsp. spoons).

Both methods are very effective. You can alternate between them, as I did. Or you can choose some one.

REMOVING LIMESCALE

To remove limescale in the washing machine, various chemical agents are sold in stores. I will not list the names, since every housewife still uses her own proven powders and liquids. Use chemicals very carefully, so as not to spoil the drum of your washing machine.

The safest, as usual, are considered the folk remedies proven over the years. I use the same citric acid and baking soda. The principle of cleaning resembles an electric kettle – pour water, pour in citric acid and baking soda, bring to a boil.

GET RID OF THE BAD ODOR

The formation of odor, bacteria and mold is influenced by factors such as:

  • food residue, e.g., cookie crumbs, seeds;
  • hair;
  • paper;
  • poor quality laundry detergents and rinses.

Before you begin the cleaning process, remove all debris from the filter. Then run the empty machine at 90 degrees or add a little baking soda or 9% vinegar.

WASHING THE DRUM

We will complete the process of updating our washing machine by washing the drum. Some people use special products similar to those used to clean glass. I usually use baking soda or ordinary laundry soap. In my opinion, these are the most effective and safe means.

A few quick tips:

  1. Don’t skimp on laundry detergents. Quality powders usually contain Calgon or other substances to soften hard water.
  2. Hygiene your washing machine more often, using my article.
  3. Carefully clean the pockets of your clothes before throwing them in the washer. Small objects and debris contaminate the filter and scratch the drum.
  4. Use natural products to wash and clean the drum – baking soda, citric acid, vinegar and laundry soap. This is both economical and chemical-free.
